Think Outside the Box!
From the CEO
2013 has been a very successful year for IXGEN, but not without the support of you our Partners, Sponsors, Volunteers, Donors, and Participants.
We implemented programs, and participated in many others that proved that, together as stakeholders in economic development, we can improve lives and build stronger, and more effective economic communities through the power of entrepreneurship.
IXGEN has strong faith in the next generation who are going to be the thinkers and producers of great ideas for business in the future, that will create the pathway to emancipation, dignity, and eradication of poverty and disease. Through our Youth Empowerment Program (iYEP) Summer initiative we trained youth from various metro Atlanta communities, in the basics of entrepreneurship, and succeeded in raising their awareness as to how they can begin to channel their thoughts and ideas into viable businesses, and use their stories to build their brands.
IXGEN’s ‘Big Idea’ for Global Entrepreneurship Week Celebration (GEW) 2013, was an empowerment workshop, 'Your Story Matters', that focused on how one can be creative through story telling. The objective of the workshop was to how to link life stories to entrepreneurism. Participants learned that there are huge advantages in telling their stories, and that they influence character, creativity, and even brand development. The event was both inspiring and educative.
2014 promises to bear even more powerful success stories for us. We have a rich program for the year, as we continue to serve potential and existing micro entrepreneurs. But again, we cannot achieve all we have committed to do without you our partners, sponsors and donors.
Thank you for seeing us through 2013.
We look forward to your continued support of our work .in 2014 and beyond!
God Bless You!

SBA Makes Lending Affordable
Small Businesses in the Southeast (8 states) have saved nearly $530,000 in fees since the SBA announced a new policy for FY 2014 setting fees on SBA 7(a) loans for $150,000 and under to zero ($0).
Last year, the SBA determined to eliminate fees on loans of $150,000 or less after conducting a review of the 7(a) Loan Program. As a result, a small business owner obtaining a $150,000 loan can save more than $2,500 in fees that previously would have been charged. The 7(a) Loan Program is the SBA’s primary program to help start-up and existing small businesses obtain financing when they might not be eligible for business loans through normal lending channels. SBA is also reaching into underserved communities to assure that all small businesses have the access they need to lending.
In addition to this, an SBA fee reduction to zero ($0) for all veteran loans authorized under the SBA Express program up to $350,000 went into effect on January 1, 2014 under a new program called SBA Veterans Advantage. This program is expected to yield significant savings for veterans looking to start or grow a business. Of all SBA loans that go to veterans, 73 percent are $350,000 and below.
These two initiatives are in place through the end of the current fiscal year, September 30, 2014. To learn more visit www.sba.gov or contact one of SBA's district offices.
